Sound mirrors

Relics of attempts at building an early warning system in the days before radar was invented, sound mirrors still stand along the south and east coasts of England (there’s also one on Malta).

Sound mirrors The three huge mirrors at Dungeness in Kent have become quite famous, but others are less well known, particularly the World War I mirrors built to watch for Zeppelins approaching the coast of Yorkshire and County Durham.
